We are from Diyarbakır, Piran, Silvan, Van, Urfa, Bingöl, and
Dersim. And we even have a bit of Erzurum in us. All of the places
that I have heard about, traveled, and seen have enriched my life
beyond compare! I carry within me so many different identities.
And I believe that I have come to embody the beautiful aspects of
each of these identities-like a vivid painting in an array of
swirling colors.
Just like Ebru. |

I never had the opportunity to play in my grandfather’s garden, or
to gather red apples and pass them out to my friends and
neighbors, but now I have a village. I live in Diyarbakır, and I am a
world citizen. The world is my village. And it’s a village large
enough for all of us.
