I have other identities, too. And I have never let one dominate the other. No matter which of them happens to be “other,” I have wanted for all of them to co-exist in peace. As for my identity as a Hemşinli, I have never been marginalized because of it. To the contrary, I have been complimented by those who have seen its “enchanting nature” for having such “a heavenly homeland.” And as a Hemşinli, I have not marginalized others, either. Besides, whom would I marginalize—my Laz friends in Çano on the opposite slopes of the Fırtına Valley?
